A Time for Rest

Newsletter | Toolern Vale Update

As the school year comes to a close and our summer break begins, it’s the perfect time to embrace an opportunity for rest and renewal. For us, rest is not only a physical necessity but also a spiritual gift that allows us to pause and to be refreshed.

In the Christian Bible, we are reminded that God himself rested after creating the world. In Genesis 2:2-3, it says, “By the seventh day, God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” This act of rest was not because God needed it, but because He wanted to set an example for us. Rest is essential for our well-being, allowing us to reflect, refresh, and enjoy the blessings God has given us.

Our summer break is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, spend quality time with family, enjoy the beauty of nature, and seek this gift of rest. Whether it’s through spending time outdoors, with family and friends or simply slowing down, the summer months can be a time to restore and replenish us physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The end of the school year and Christmas come together in a special way, offering an opportunity to pause and appreciate the year that has passed. The end of the school year reminds us of the value of hard work and gratitude, while Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Christmas is a time of joy, love, and hope because Jesus’ birth represents God’s love for mankind. As Christians, we believe that Jesus came to teach, heal, and ultimately sacrifice Himself to offer forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe in Him.

So, as we take a break from the routine of school and other activities, let us remember that rest is a gift. May this summer break bring you the rest and restoration you need, and may it help prepare you for the year ahead with a renewed sense of purpose and joy.
