Developing Young Leaders

Leadership from Prep to 12

Although the grounds and buildings we sit amongst are substantial, our greatest assets are the students we have attending here at Melton Christian College. Each one is of great and equal value, regardless of the role they play in our midst. However, one of the extraordinarily valuable and powerful things we do here at MCC is identify and empower release student leaders who influence their peers and the college with their excellence of attitude, example and effort.

Expectations Regarding Christ-Centred Leadership

Successful leadership at MCC will be defined according to Jesus’ example of non-judgmental guidance, calmness, fearlessness, empowering of others, humility, honesty, sacrifice, selflessness, patience.

”The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the one who serves.” (Luke 22:25-26)

Empowering Student Leaders

House System

The House System was formed to build communities and encourage pastoral care within student groups. Each student is given a house, based on the four strong biblical heroes of Daniel, Caleb, Joshua, Daniel and Gideon. A students’ house group will remain theirs throughout their schooling.

Student Senate

The Student Senate are given the opportunity to serve the Melton Christian College community in a leadership capacity in various ways. They may be involved in special projects in the College, work with younger groups of students, or support community-based projects. All uphold and serve whilst reinforcing College policy and procedures. Serving in this way is a valuable asset after Year Twelve as students enter the workforce.

Formal Leadership Opportunities

Student Leaders are students who display leadership gifts and who set a good example to others. There are a variety of student leadership opportunities at MCC. All student leaders are expected to be role models within the community and each position requires a commitment to completing a variety of tasks and attending required training activities.
