Embracing Our Multicultural Community

Newsletter | Secondary Update

This Friday, our school community will come together to celebrate Multicultural Day, a much-anticipated event that highlights the rich diversity within our student body. This celebration is deeply aligned with one of our Core Values—Community. At Melton Christian College, we believe that fostering a strong sense of belonging and appreciation for different cultures is essential to building a supportive and inclusive environment.

Students will have the opportunity to express their heritage by dressing up in traditional cultural attire. This is always a vibrant display of the many backgrounds represented at our school, and I encourage everyone to participate. It’s a day where we can learn from each other, share stories, and grow in our understanding of the world.

In addition to the colourful display of cultural dress, some of our students will also be participating in Manga Drawing workshops. This activity is a wonderful way for students to showcase their creativity while exploring a popular art form that resonates with many different cultures. It’s a chance to deepen their appreciation for the storytelling and artistic techniques that make Manga so unique.

During breaks, the school grounds will be filled with the sounds of cultural music, and there will be dancing that reflects the traditions of different communities. These performances are always a highlight of the day, bringing energy and joy to everyone involved.

As we celebrate, we are reminded of the verse from Galatians 3:28: “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” This verse beautifully encapsulates the spirit of unity that Multicultural Day represents. I encourage all students to participate fully and make the most of this special day. Together, we can create a memorable and meaningful experience for everyone.
