Contact Us2020 is a significant year in history. The global pandemic caused uncertainty and disruption, and upended the usual rites of passage for the Class of 2020. While 2020 may have been a year of uncertainty, it has cemented the importance of genuine relationships for us as a school. Melton Christian College has always had an unofficial network of past staff and students. Forming the MCC Alumni is the first step in establishing contact with those vast networks of people. The Alumni will
This year, Melton Christian College is partnering with CS Carols as the major sponsor of the event. That makes a lot of sense because MCC is committed to community, and CS Carols is all about community. This is the 6th Annual Carols By Candlelight Event that INChurch Melbourne, in partnership with the City of Melton, have organised and hosted. It is a whole of community event and fun for the whole family. Be inspired by the joy and hope that
Our Year 12 VCE Physics students were able to go on an excursion at Luna Park earlier in the year before restrictions were announced. 'Why Luna Park?', you may ask. Where else can you analyse such obvious examples of physics in action? It was great day of learning and fun! Students enjoyed seeing the various things they have been learning in action and feeling the various g-forces on the rides! “It was an enjoyable experience. We were able to experienc
NOW SHOWING Despite COVID-19 and the subsequent postponing of many College events, our Term Four Soirée is now showing online! Mrs Bendall and her team have worked very hard to produce an online Soirée which features a number of songs and performances from the hit Broadway show ‘Guys and Dolls’. It also features songs from our VET Music group and monologues from our Theatre Studies students. It is all packaged in an online production
Welcome to this year's Art Show online! Mrs Linda Karman and Mrs Elizabeth Sfameni are so excited to share this year's Melton Christian College artists’ works online. As you all know this year has been one like no other; yet this has not stopped our students from producing work that is creative and inspiring. Students have had to adapt from creating artwork in the art room, to making art at home with the available materials they have
Growing and developing is our core business as an educational community. God tasked His very first image bearers, Adam and Eve, with the role of stewardship: to grow and develop creation in faithful obedience to Father God (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15), and we get to share in this work. We are designed to do life together, in community. And when a community partners together and is aligned in shared purpose, the community flourishes. Although we are in different places and learning in

It shouldn’t surprise you that our team is deeply passionate about…teaching and learning…! Our teachers are committed learners. We are curious. We ask questions. We reflect. We wonder. We imagine. We Hope. We are curious about God’s creation and all its parts. And we invite students to be curious learners about creation too. We ask probing questions to uncover assumptions and biases. We do this so we can be better leaders of learning
Primary Teachers at Melton Christian College have the privilege to teach and care for students in a Christ-centred environment. This year, the coronavirus interrupted normality and teachers abruptly had to “change gear” and upskill in several different areas to continue to provide excellence in teaching and learning. Creativity and flexibility were essential as our staff faced an unknown and unfamiliar path. One of our teachers, Terri Naude, has known her fair share of challenges in life. She has
While all of our students have made the transition to At-Home-Learning, not all have had to overcome long-distance obstacles like one of our Year 8 students. Jasnoorpreet, currently in lockdown in India due to the global pandemic, was interviewed by Homeroom Teachers Mr Phil Ryan and Mrs Linda Karman, and Year 7-8 Coordinator Mr Barry Ibrahim. Firstly, can you tell us why were you in India? We came over her for a holiday, as it was my aunts’ wedding.
Do your best not to compare what you are able to do with what other families might be doing. Comparisons will only rob you of peace. Do your own best, that’s all. Don’t try to do anyone else’s best; your best is all that is asked. Everyone’s best will look different and that is ok. As a Christian it is comforting to remember that God knows everything. Nothing surprises God. It is
One of the most symbolic days on the Australian calendar will be commemorated in a whole new way this year, with no dawn services or street marches, no two-up at the pub or family barbecues in the backyard. Instead, we’ll mark Anzac Day from our living rooms and driveways, as we remember them - the heroic armed forces. Here are some ways you can mark our national day of remembrance at home: Live Stream Dawn and Commemorative
Many of you are people who turn to the Bible in uncertain times. For some others the Bible is somewhat unknown. Yet you all know it to be a source of wise guidance. Right now, when we are surrounded by alarming, irrational, fear-based behaviour it seems wise indeed to turn to the steady, settling strength of the Bible. The Bible is full of songs. The original music isn’t recorded, only the lyrics. In this week’s editorial
As the potential threat of the Coronavirus continues to unfold, it is with regret that we advise the cancellation of this week’s Open Day, originally scheduled for Saturday 21st March. While we are pleased to confirm that there are no cases of Coronavirus at the College, it is important that we minimise all potential risk and exercise caution in the interest of our College community as well as the broader community. Our hope is to run the Open
Today our student leaders made a fantastic welcome gesture to our year sevens. Filling the green with picnic blankets, lawn games, kind messages, hash tags on blackboards and balloons in college colours, the student senate hosted a lunch time ‘Welcome to Secondary’ picnic for our three new classes of year sevens. Our College captain, Ravleen Kaur, began by welcoming the students and underlining the college value of community, inviting all to ‘belong’. This was followed by
School starts this week; I am excited. School is sensational! It’s not the buildings or sports fields that are exciting, it’s not the labs or classrooms, nor the pathways and playgrounds. All these places are lifeless until the students and staff return and revive the whole campus. As I write this the teachers are coming back on campus. There’s been clearing, cleaning, painting and preparing going on throughout the places and spaces that will
Christmas is coming; it’s always so exciting! Of course, as a Christian school we LOVE Christmas. Ok, maybe it is a bit overcommercialised in the shops, but we don’t live in the shops; we create our own Christmas in our homes and in our hearts. Christmas food is wonderful, the traditions are beautiful, and the convention of gift-giving reminds us of Jesus who came as a baby and gave Himself as a gift for us. Christmas
The Secondary Art Show & Charity Art Auction event opens Wednesday the 30th October at the MCC auditorium. It will run from 3.30pm - 6:00pm. This free event runs alongside the Secondary Arts Soirée. This year students are donating some of their original art pieces for our very first silent art auction. All proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders (msf.org.au), who provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare.
Mr Robert Keenan, a Melton Christian College parent, addressed the students on his experiences as a former Police officer (RUC) in Belfast during ‘The Troubles’ of the 1970’s. This was a time where there was great division and conflict in Northern Ireland as a result of political and religious beliefs. Mr. Keenan shared with the cohort obstacles that he and his family faced in a time of terror and conflict. The talk consolidated our current unit
Whimsical and Magical Musical of Seussical™ Proportions Opens this September! A lead cast of 17 students and the whole primary school taking part, this year's musical is set to be the biggest yet! The whole College was abuzz with activity and vibrant costumes last week as we celebrated the many nationalities of our students and families. Run over two days for Primary and Secondary students, Multicultural Day has grown year by year as the students and staff share their heritage through classroom study and special incursions. The event is a wonderful expression of how unique God has made each of us, and how we all come together to be part of one
We entered the auditorium with feelings of excitement and anticipation, looking forward to see how this year's cast and crew were going to entertain and charm us with for the evening. Welcomed by the unmistakable aroma of freshly popped corn seeping through the air and hypnotised by the mystical lamp encased in glass we strolled down memory lane admiring by the chronologically placed, life size posters of the musicals gone by. Reminiscing about every performance we had attended
Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie made a guest appearance on campus last week, and made front page in the newspaper! Check out the article here: https://www.starweekly.com.au/news/magic-comes-to-melton/ The cast is getting ready, the props are all done, and it is just a matter of time before the auditorium is transformed. If you haven't purchased your tickets, go to http://www.ticketebo.com.au/melton-christian-college. *Final night is nearly sold out. Don'

Last month, our year 8 students participated in an exciting one night hiking trip in Anglesea. This camp runs each year, concentrating on the theme of perseverance. Our aim is for students to learn practical ways to develop reliance and support for each other. Each homeroom spent two days hiking through Bells Beach, Iron Bark Basin and Anglesea Heath. The weather was beautiful, providing a great atmosphere for students and staff. Despite the nerves, our students were well prepared and came
On Wednesday the 24th of April, VCE Studio Arts students attended the “Top Arts” Season of Excellence event at NGV Federation Square (Melbourne CBD). This was a special time where students gained insight on how to succeed in Studio Arts. Students listened to advice from past year 12 students who explained their journey and provided tips on how to produce high quality artwork. They explored successful Art folios and marvelled at the amazing artworks exhibited. Students also
MCC Celebrated ANZAC Day this year with a range of activities and services across Primary and Secondary School. Melton Dawn Service A group of Student Leaders attended the Melton Dawn service to lay a wreath next to the Melton War Memorial, along with many other community groups. This is a special time each year to join with our community to honour our servicemen. ANZAC Day Commemorative Service Run by our Student Senate, the service included a reading of The Ode,
I made the decision to come to Africa for a year because I knew that there was a desperate need. Psalm 12:5 But the Lord says, "Now I will arise! I will defend the poor, thise who are plundered, the oppressed, and the needy who groan for help". I grew up in Africa with my parents who were Australian. They went to share the good news about Jesus. I have always loved Africa and her people. In 2015 and 2017, I made
Students from 6B recently enjoyed studying the story of Labour Day. They were so enthusiastic that they thought it would be good to design a play to communicate the story to the whole Primary School. A small group of students designed the script, another team designed the props, and yet another group looked after the technical side of the play. The story involved a group of stonemasons who were fed-up with working such long hours, and their families who were
It is lovely that our staff take such an interest in what our graduates do after they leave MCC. I overhear the teachers speaking excitedly about different past students after they graduate, celebrating the courses or careers that they are now undertaking. Many MCC graduates go on to university, but not all. Some have other gifts and skills. How pleasing to see the photo of Blake Florrimell. He is a former MCC student who finished his secondary schooling last year.
Our Prep students have started the year with great excitement and enthusiasm! It is always wonderful to watch the new students grow, not only into their uniforms, but also into the learning environment that is school. The first few weeks in Prep are all about settling students into the daily classroom routines. What happens at school needs to become predictable so that the children feel safe, supported and enjoy being here. Knowing what is expected of them and what happens
In an ongoing pursuit of excellence, our Class of 2019 attended a full-day Study Retreat earlier this week. Held at the WestWaters Hotel complex in Caroline Springs, the retreat was for all Year 12 students, whether pursuing a VCE, VCAL or VET pathway. The theme of the retreat each year is ‘Aspire’. ‘Aspire’ means to lift, to reach. It is our deep hope that students are inspired to reach beyond perceived limitations to achieve their goals. At Melton

News Flash! Jamel Cabucol, year 12, received the Principals' Award at this year's WEC Awards (Western Edge Cluster) presentation evening. Each school Principal nominates one student from their student body to receive this prestigious award, and with a near-perfect score in his VET course so far, Jamel was the stand out choice. To be eligible, students must display outstanding effort and outstanding results. "Jamel has demonstrated comitment and perseverance, and the resulting success is evident in his achievement." - David
Our College was recently afforded an amazing opportunity for two students and one teacher to attend the annual Deakin Oration event at the Victorian Parliament House. Given their passion for law and service to the College in their capacity as key Student Senate members, both Sobur Dhieu and Chantelle Calonge were selected to attend with our Head of Curriculum, Mrs Kristie Barber. The Deakin Oration is an annual presentation at Parliament House honouring Australia’s second Prime
The news is in! Our very own Victoria Hirt, year 12, has just been awarded the winner of this year's VCE Leadership Award for Victoria! Featured on the VCAA website as one of eight finalists in this year’s VCE Leadership Awards, the judging panel were very impressed with Victoria's application and interview, and she received the news at the award ceremony last Friday. 'Wherever you see a person in need, there is an opportunity for leadership. That
Year 12 Physics Excursion Our Year 12 Physics students joined 200 other schools last term for the annual VCE Physics Day at Luna Park. VCE Physics Days provide students with practical examples of some of the concepts covered in ‘Motion in one and two dimensions’ and ‘How fast can things go?’ for Unit 3 of the VCE Physics Study Design. Luna Park provides us with exclusive access to the Park where students utilise study materials with a program
Year 10 Camp When students look back on the school year, one of the moments that always sticks out is the yearly camp. This year’s camp was no exception. When we first heard the details of the camp, as usual, there was a level of excitement surrounding it. But some, including myself, were a bit skeptical about what we may be doing. We went into the experience completely blind, aside from a couple Google searches and the
