A Fresh Start
Hello Primary Families, and a warm welcome back to Term 2.
I hope your break was restful and a time where some lovely family memories were made. I also hope you were able to reflect on the good news of Jesus’ resurrection.
It was such a joy to welcome our students back on Monday. I was greeted at the gate with smiling faces and plenty of enthusiastic holiday stories, which is always a highlight. On Monday morning, I had the opportunity to spend time moving through our Primary learning spaces and was so encouraged by the rich and diverse learning taking place in the primary rooms.
Our Prep students were engaged in learning all about the phonogram ‘r’ and proudly demonstrating their growing Auslan skills. In Year One, excitement was high during show and tell — including my chance to feel some very impressive llama wool! Year Two students quickly settled into their English rotations, and I heard some wonderful reading taking place. Year Three students were developing their creative writing through detailed oral and written reflections of their holidays, while Year Four students shared some very entertaining stories of their break. I was impressed by the concentration and focus in Year Five as students worked through their English lesson, and our Year Six students were thoughtfully engaged in discussion with their teachers, reflecting on the fact that their final year of Primary is fast approaching.
As we journey through this term, it is important that we continue to be guided by our five core values, which provide a strong foundation for positive learning experiences. Through the passion and dedication of our educators, students are encouraged to strive for excellence, grow in their respect for one another, and actively engage in their learning and their community. We are continually encouraged by the ways our students demonstrate these values — both in those who exemplify them confidently, and in those who are continuing to develop and strengthen them. This was a focus during our primary Chapel on Tuesday and children were encouraged to keep these values in their hearts at all times.
As always, we are eager to continue partnering with you as our MCC families throughout term two. As we walk alongside one another – “bringing them up in the way they should go” (Proverbs 22:6) – may we remain united in our shared desire to support each child’s learning journey. I look forward to another term of strong partnership, growth, and learning together.
