A powerful partnership

Newsletter | Well-Being

My husband enjoys outdoor pursuits, with the latest being snow hiking and camping. This past weekend he enjoyed the sights and sounds of a very cold, magical world while I happily stayed home with the heater on. He learned, stretched, endured, and experienced something most would just dream of, but only through the partnership of numerous elements coming together to support the process. Research, gear companies, clothing, apps, and people who work hard for others’ safety and enjoyment of the outdoors, have all played a part in making a small, magical solo journey possible.

On reflection, this is not unlike the privilege that we have as a ‘wellbeing team’ playing a small integrated part in a sometimes difficult but most important journey of growth, that each student makes here in the college every day.

Whether it is sitting in focused one on one time with a student, meeting with a worried parent, backing a discipline decision that shapes a future, or helping squeeze the learning out of a difficult moment. Or whether it is liaising with wider supports, advocating for something important, celebrating the talents and teamwork of students, or visiting a family on a most difficult day, it is a privilege to work in a place where partnership and mutual respect underpin every moment.

We are all on an important team, and ‘wellbeing’ is just one element in a huge partnership that supports young people safely to walk towards and enjoy sights and experiences that they dream of. Together with you as parents, let’s continue to travel with purpose, in this work that is worth our time. We encourage you always, to reach out if anything is impacting your child’s journey. Any one part of the team is just a phone call, email, or conversation away.

Thank you for being a community that prioritises partnership and comes together to help students learn and grow.
