A Successful Start
Welcome back to Term Three. I pray you were able to create some lovely family memories during the term break. Given we have a new term beginning, I thought it would be helpful for you to know how you can set your child up for success right from the first day back.
- Arrival – arriving by 8:43am each morning means that your child is ready to join their class for when the day formally begins at 8:45am. This means your child hears the announcements for the day, is marked present and is developing the good habit of promptness that will assist with future employment.
- Uniform – the uniform guidelines are set out clearly in the Parent Handbook. The teachers use this same document when completing uniform checks in their homeroom. Wearing the correct uniform shows that you agree to the uniform standards of the College and are proud to be a part of the College. Non-compliance will mean your child will receive a Uniform Violation in their diary, with consequences escalating if this is not rectified. Our uniform shop stocks everything that is needed.
- Canvas – a lot of information is communicated via your child’s Canvas page. You will find events happening that week, homework guidelines and an overview of what is being covered in each subject for that week. Spend some time looking at this so you can support your child throughout each week.
- Diaries – the College diary is a means of communication between you and your child’s teacher. It is important that this is checked every night and signed.
- Food – we encourage healthy and nutritious snacks and lunches. This will help your child to concentrate and learn well. We also encourage as much package-free food as possible to help our environment and maintain a litter-free school.
As always, open and prompt communication with your child’s teacher is a great way to continue positive parent-teacher relationships. The diaries and emailing are a good way of promoting this.
