An Unforgettable Journey: The Year 8 Camp
In a testament to resilience and camaraderie, the Year 8 students of Melton Christian College recently embarked on an unforgettable journey—an overnight hike that not only tested their physical endurance but also fostered a strong sense of community among them.
Venturing into the great outdoors, students set out on a 15-kilometre trek, each shouldering the weight of their essentials for the night. With backpacks filled and spirits high, they embarked on a journey that would push them beyond their comfort zones.
Cooking their meals under the open sky on portable trangias, the students embraced the challenge of outdoor living. As the aroma of shared meals wafted through the air, bonds strengthened, and friendships deepened under the starlit canopy.
Nightfall brought with it the next challenge—setting up their tents for a night under the stars. With teamwork and determination, they pitched their shelters, ready to rest after a day of physical exertion.
Throughout the hike, the students embodied traits and values that Melton Christian College is proud of, particularly the spirit of perseverance.
Undeterred by fatigue or obstacles along the trail, they adopted a ‘don’t give up’ attitude, pushing themselves forward and supporting one another every step of the way.
The hike wasn’t just about physical endurance; it was a journey of personal growth and communal spirit. The students exemplified our Core Value of Community, offering help and encouragement to their peers, embodying the ethos that defines our school.
As dawn broke over the horizon, illuminating tired yet triumphant faces, the teachers accompanying the students commended them on their remarkable efforts. The overnight hike wasn’t just a physical challenge; it was a testament to the strength of character and resilience that defines the Melton Christian College Community.
