Creating A Positive Atmosphere

Newsletter | Principal's Message

One of the great privileges of working in a school is observing young people interacting. It is great noticing the small things such as how they speak to one another, and the tone they set when they gather together. Recently, I was struck by how positive that tone can be. The environment felt calm, welcoming and respectful, and that is something that isn’t taken for granted in many schools today.

Interactions among the students in the playground are generally relaxed and informal; a joy to observe. You would be pleased because on the whole, your children represent themselves, their families and their school beautifully. You would be genuinely proud of them. I certainly am.

It prompts me once again to reflect on a question I have posed before: what led you to choose Christian education for your child? Part of the answer is clearly on display. It is evident in the politely relaxed conversations, the happiness, and the comfortable courtesy shown throughout the day.

When meeting families who hope to join our community, a consistent message emerges. Parents are seeking a school that provides firmness and fairness, a balance of care with accountability. They want their children to feel known and valued, while also understanding expectations and boundaries. They want a learning environment that is steadfast and strong, and that is exactly what we work at.

As a Christian school, our foundation rests firmly in the teachings of Christ, guiding not only what we teach but how we demonstrate behaviour. Our staff work deliberately to combine warmth with high standards, reinforcing the values that many of you are nurturing at home. When home and school are aligned in this way, the outcome is visible.

So well done to you our school-parents for your ongoing commitment, and to our teachers for the consistency and care they bring each day. Because of good home-school partnership, our students, continue to demonstrate respect, gratitude and integrity; qualities that will serve them well as adults.

Let us continue to work together. Let’s uphold what we know produces great outcomes in our students in this school community known for its positive feel and Christian faith.
