Honouring ANZAC Day

As we begin a new term, we welcome back our students, families, and staff with a sense of renewed purpose and opportunity. A new term always brings a fresh start—new goals, new learning, and new chances to grow both academically and personally.

This term also invites us to pause and reflect on the significance of ANZAC Day, one of the most important commemorations in our national calendar. Observed on April 25, ANZAC Day honours the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who landed at Gallipoli in 1915, as well as all those who have served in conflicts since.

For our students, ANZAC Day provides an important opportunity to understand the values that have helped shape our nation—courage, mateship, perseverance, and sacrifice. These are not just historical ideas; they are qualities we can actively live out in our daily lives. Whether it is supporting a classmate, showing perseverance in learning, or contributing positively to our community, each of us has the chance to reflect these values.

As a school community, we encourage families to take time to engage in ANZAC Day in meaningful ways—attending a local service, observing a moment of silence, or simply having conversations about its significance. These moments help deepen our understanding and ensure that the legacy of those who served is remembered by future generations.
