Live Theatre is Back!

Newsletter | Performing Arts | Secondary Update

Next week, the Secondary Performing Arts team will perform Shrek the Musical JR. This will be Melton Christian College’s 16th Annual Secondary Production. We are looking forward to being back onstage and to be performing live theatre! The last live show that was performed at the College was back in 2019 and the wait between shows has felt enormous!

What better way to return to live theatre than with Shrek JR. Shrek is the story of an ogre who sets out to get back his solitary life in the swamp, but instead finds love and family through friends. And doesn’t this show have a strong Christian message? At the end of the show, the princess is upset as she wants to be beautiful. Shrek, of course, thinks that she is already beautiful and lets her know this. God often warns us about judging by appearance. In 1 Samuel 16:7 God says “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Tickets to this year’s show are still available. Can I encourage everyone to come and attend a performance and support our Performing Arts students? It is so important after COVID-19, which kept theatres closed for at least 18 months, that we now get out and support the Performing Arts industry.
