Living in the Present

Newsletter | Toolern Vale Update

Living in the present and being fully engaged in each moment is a theme that resonates deeply with us as a college. God invites us to trust him with our future and to cherish every moment as we live them. In the Bible, Jesus says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” These words encourage us to release anxieties about the future and focus on the present, trusting that God will provide for our needs each day.

The Bible also reminds us, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Here, we are called to embrace the present with joy and gratitude. This attitude of thankfulness keeps our hearts centred on the blessings of each moment, rather than dwelling on what may come next or what has passed.

As we step into Term Four with all it holds, it’s easy to find ourselves looking ahead – toward end-of-year celebrations, Christmas, the new year, and 2025. These moments are exciting and certainly worth anticipating. However, let’s be intentional about walking through each day, fully present in each conversation and every interaction, so we don’t miss the beauty and wisdom hidden in these moments. There’s so much to discover and appreciate as we move through the day-to-day.

We have so much to be grateful for and to look forward to – but let’s not miss the opportunities in front of us each day, as we learn from one another and grow together. Each moment presents a chance for connection, growth, and understanding, shaping us into who we’re meant to be. By staying present, we can fully embrace the journey we’re on, both individually and as a community.
