MCC Presents: Oliver JR

Newsletter | Secondary Update

Over the past six months, the dedicated staff and talented students of Melton Christian College have been hard at work, bringing to life a timeless classic: Oliver Jr. This musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist promises to be a heartwarming and inspiring experience for all who attend.

A Classic Story with a Timeless Message

Oliver Jr. transports us to Victorian London, where we follow the journey of young Oliver Twist, an orphan who faces immense challenges but never loses his sense of hope and kindness. As Oliver navigates a harsh world, he encounters a range of characters—from the sly Fagin and his gang of pickpockets to the kind-hearted Mr. Brownlow.

The narrative is a powerful reflection of Christian values, highlighting themes of resilience, compassion, and justice. As Proverbs 31:8-9 reminds us, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” This call to defend the vulnerable is exemplified by the character of Nancy, who, despite her own suffering, bravely protects Oliver from harm. Her courage and compassion are a poignant reminder of our Biblical duty to support those in need.
