Frequently Asked Questions

What year levels will be offered online?

We will begin with two secondary year-levels: Year 7 and Year 8 in 2025.

Who can attend the Online Campus?

Students attend our Online Campus for a variety of reasons. Including:

  • Families who live in remote areas where there is limited access to Christian Independent education for high school
  • Students who want to pursue a sporting career and need flexible learning
  • Students who struggle with the physical environment (such as school refusal)
  • Families who want to play a bigger role in their child’s learning journey
  • Families who want their child to attend Melton Christian College but are unable to secure a place due to our extensive waiting lists
What are the school fees?

Independent schools generally release the following year’s fees during term four. Every year there is around a 3% to 4% increase. So, that means the Year 7 and Year 8 tuition fees for 2025 are likely to be around $5700 for the year, which is approximately a 3% increase on 2024 fees. That means fortnightly direct-debits of around $240. Please keep in mind that these are indicative figures only, and the actual fee schedule will be published in term four of 2024.

What do the fees include?

Excursions and camps are included in MCC fees, and the fees are the same for all campuses: Brookfield, Toolern Vale and Online Campus. However, there is a great advantage for our Online Campus families. Online Campus students will not have to buy their own laptop, MCC will provide a school laptop. Also, in the first year, this laptop will be fully set up with the required e-texts. This represents a saving of more than $2000. Online Campus students wear a uniform top, and will also be provided with their own uniform top: our sports polo, free of charge. Again, not having to purchase the full uniform represents a saving for parents of around $500 per year.

What is the weekly timetable? When do lessons run?

On-screen lessons are live from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. each day, Monday through to Friday. If an online student can’t join the live, interactive lesson, they catch up on that lesson during their afternoon or evening. Afternoons are dedicated to self-paced lessons, self-paced tasks, and other assessments. At times, live lessons are also held during afternoons.

What subjects will be offered online?

Like our onsite campuses, our Online Campus follows the Australian Curriculum. Students undertake subjects such as Science, Maths, Health & PE, English, Humanities, Performing Arts and a language subject, just as they do at Brookfield Campus onsite.

What is 'self-paced' learning?

Due to the flexible nature of our Online Campus, students are given a variety of assigned tasks to complete that support their learning. Students are given most afternoons to work on their self-paced tasks, assignments and general study. This gives freedom and flexibility back into the hands of the students and they can choose how to best spend those hours supporting their learning.

Social interaction is really important in our family, how will the Online Campus create a sense of belonging?

Community and belonging are priorities for us. So, our Online Campus students will participate in ‘Christian Life Groups’. Christian Life Groups is a dedicated time and space where students learn to build relationships, with each other, and their teacher. Furthermore, students will participate in online social events. Where possible, we will meet face-to-face for excursions and a camp. These spaces create a safe and relaxed environment to help students connect and build life-long friendships.

Will there be a uniform?

Yes – and that may surprise you! Our uniform will consist of a simple, comfortable, polo top that is to be worn when participating in live online sessions. There are a few reasons why we have decided to implement a uniform:

  • It creates a sense of belonging. Students feel that they are a part of a community and identify with our community.
  • For excursions and on-site days (where applicable), students will fit right into our community as they’ll be wearing the same uniform as everyone else!
  • Uniforms for students create healthy boundaries – they know how they are expected to present themselves.

The uniform is included for the first year. But don’t worry—you can still wear your comfy Ugg boots!

How will my child be supported in the Online Campus?

Support looks different for everyone, it is personal. Just like our onsite students, our online students have access various student support services including student-counselling, teacher-tutoring and technical support.

What resources and books will I need?

Another advantage for our initial cohort of families is that we will provide free of charge, all the eBooks for 2025 as a gesture for the first year. Additional resources, such as pens, pencils, rulers, calculators, etc. can be purchased by parents if they are not already available at home. We have a standard booklist that lists recommended stationery, and items are available at any supermarket.

All eBooks will be included in your fees for the first year.

Can I use my own device?

The Online Campus provides the laptop for the student. This ensures that systems and programs are compatible and reduces the risk of technological issues, and if the laptop stops working, we can quickly provide a replacement laptop while that laptop is being repaired.

Who will be the teachers for the Online Campus?

Our qualified, registered and reputable teachers have many years of experience. They have been deployed to the Online Campus because of their passion for online learning. Their in-service training is specific to the online setting, and to best equip children to thrive in online learning. Just like in the onsite campuses, our online teachers are specialists in English and Humanities, Maths and Science, PE & Health and other disciplines.
