Online, But Never Alone: Our Community in Action
At Melton Christian College, one of our Core Values is Community — and we’re seeing this come to life in new and exciting ways through our Online Campus.
A wonderful example of this was the recent Secondary Athletics Carnival, where a group of our Year 7 online students joined the wider student body for a day of sport, team spirit, and house pride. These students stepped out from behind their screens and onto the track, competing alongside their peers and representing their house, Caleb.
Their contribution wasn’t just symbolic, it was significant. Success was found on the day by our online students, who demonstrated the same dedication and perseverance they show in their online studies. But even more powerful was the sense of belonging they experienced, and the way their participation added to something greater than themselves.
At the end of the day, it was Caleb House that won the overall points tally — a win made possible by every student who contributed, including those from the Online Campus.
This moment is a beautiful reminder that being part of an online community doesn’t mean being disconnected. Whether it’s in the classroom, at a carnival, or in everyday interactions, our online students are fully part of the Secondary journey. They are known, valued, and celebrated.
We are so proud of the way our students are building community across distance, and of the way they continue to represent our College with excellence and enthusiasm.
