Remembering Pa Sawm Lyhym
As you may know, one of our past students, Pa Sawm Lyhym, died tragically last Thursday. It was important for the College to stop, reflect, and grieve for our loss. At the end of Monday this week, our Year 10s, 11s and 12s gathered to remember Pa Sawm in the final session of the day.
This session was led by one of our Student Leaders, Michael Clayton. Michael reflected on Pa Sawm’s life and the impact he had on others here at the College, describing him as a young man who would enjoy the moment and always made you laugh. Bonnie Lang, our Head of Pastoral Care, delivered a message that included sharing her time with Pa Sawm’s family over the last few days. This also included advice from Pa Sawm’s sister which was “to grieve but not to grieve too long, as Pa Sawm would not want that”. The service ended with a time of meaningful reflection whilst all our year 11s were able light a candle.
You should be very proud of how our students have carried themselves over the last few difficult days and during this service. They continue to represent our families and our College very well throughout our community. Please connect with us if you know of any struggles happening in College.
I’d like to finish on a verse from scripture that Michael shared during his reflection in regards to what we look forward to beyond this life:
Revelations 21:4 “’He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
