Secondary News
Whilst the year has just started it feels like we are well into it already!
We have already seen the Year 7s spend some time away together on their camp, getting to know each other and understanding what it means to be a MCC student. We also had the Year 12s spend a day a way on their Aspire retreat, regrouping as a team and preparing themselves for their final year.
Both events, which bookend the secondary years, is about sharing time together as a team, knowing each other, learning how to work together and ultimately how to support each other. This is often achieved through participating in team activities, spending time in each other’s company and simply even sharing meals.
We believe being part of a team is an important aspect of our College life, this belief is so strong that we actually have a Core Value that focuses on it. We call this Core Value ‘Community’. It is important to us that everyone feels like they ‘belong’ here – that everyone feels safe and valued.
This starts off in our Secondary Homerooms. Our Homeroom time matters here at the College. Each student has two Homeroom Teachers that will support them throughout the year. If you are concerned about anything that is happening here at the College, your Homeroom teachers are the staff to connect with first.
Of course, God also teaches us that community is important as well. “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” Psalm 133:1
Let’s keep spending time with each other, growing together and looking after each other.
