Secondary Update
Welcome back to 2022. We are looking forward to this year and moving forward.
Paul says in Philippians 13:14,
‘Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.’
This is what we are doing in secondary, forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. This is evident with our Year 12s going on their Aspire retreat on day 2 of this week! They spent the day at the Eynesbury Homestead looking at and planning for the year ahead. They were inspired by a high achievers group called Elevate, by a past student who now leads people in online security, Michael Monnik, and by last year’s DUX, Jacob Woodman. By the way, congratulations Jacob on your 2021 achievement – well done! These Year 12s are already straining towards what is ahead.
As you read this, our Year 7s are also straining ahead – they are on Year 7 camp, bonding as a group, making new friends and learning who we are as a College. This is so that they can continue as a community member in that culture for the rest of the year, really, for the rest of the time here at the College. Straining ahead.
Let’s all strain ahead. Let’s us take with us the lessons we have learnt over the last couple of years but not the fear. Let’s continue to do the things we need to do: self-distance, wear masks, stay home if we are not well and RAT test twice weekly. However, let us be positive about this year. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Let’s be open to these plans, and make sure we are doing everything that we need to do to allow Him to bless us.
