Steady as she Grows
Melton Christian College is Melton Christian College, and it doesn’t matter where you are: Brookfield campus, Toolern Vale campus, or the Online campus, whatever part of MCC you are connected to, you are what MCC is, and we are us.
That was not intended to be confusing, but since it might have been, let me explain…
Melton Christian College started back in the 80’s. That is a long long time ago. The school was not particularly well resourced, in fact, as I understand it there were years when the then principal was a volunteer. Yes, she was doing that tough job unpaid, just for the love of Christian education.
Those must have been interesting times. For example, even the layout of buildings at Brookfield campus of Melton Christian College could seem a little bit random these days. That is because the history is that previous stakeholders could never have predicted the growth that was ahead for the school. You might have heard the history is that MCC started with nine students in the scout hall. This year we have one thousand, two hundred and seventy students. As a Christian organisation, we see this growth as the Lord’s blessing.
These days, as we walk through the campus and see new faces, fresh energy, and exciting developments, it’s clear that the College is growing – and that’s something to celebrate. Growth means more opportunities for our students, more resources for our teachers, and a richer, more diverse community for all of us. But we also know that growth can raise questions: will we stay true to our values? Will our respectful, faith-led culture remain intact?
Be assured that every step of our expansion has been carefully considered and purposefully planned. This isn’t rapid or reactive growth—it’s measured, thoughtful, and always guided by our commitment to Christian community. We’re ensuring that Christ centredness, which is what makes the College the special place it is, remains embedded, at the heart of everything we do.
Well done parents and teachers for walking this journey together. Keep building trust and you will continue to shape this school community in wonderful, meaningful ways.
