The Spirit of Christ in Action

Newsletter | Primary Update

Last week, I had the privilege of participating in our Year 6 camp. From exciting beach activities to thought-provoking historical hikes, thrilling flying fox rides to conquering the high ropes course, our time together was amazing. As leaders, we found ourselves reflecting on the remarkable character of our students, filled with pride as they exhibited both our school’s values and the spirit of Christ.

While on the College campus, our students are immersed in the importance of our five core values. However, witnessing them in action within a different environment was extremely rewarding. It stands as a testament to the harmonious partnership between school and home, as well as to our steadfast Christian ethos.

Here are just a few instances where the core values shone brightly during our time at Portsea Camp:

Christ-centredness

  • Demonstrating selflessness by allowing others to queue ahead for meals.
  • Serving one another by diligently setting up and tidying after each meal.

Community

  • Engaging in inclusive team-building activities, ensuring no one felt left out.
  • Providing encouragement to peers during the Talent Show.

Excellence

  • Collaborating to solve challenges in the Amazing Race.
  • Supporting each other in maintaining neat and orderly cabins.

Passion for Teaching and Learning

  • Working as a team, listening to each other, to solve puzzles.
  • Attentively listening to staff devotions.

Respect

  • Willingly sampling new foods and showing appreciation for it.
  • Expressing gratitude to leaders and cooks for their care and dedication.

These values are what we hope our kids will carry with them as they one day move on from MCC. It’s our job to keep nurturing these values and living them out together.

Let’s remember to thank God for the children He has entrusted into our care.
