There is Strength in Community

Newsletter | Secondary Update

Every day at Melton Christian College, our teachers and staff work together to build strong foundations for learning. The strength of our school community develops an environment where teaching, learning, collaboration, and respect helps support student success.

As a Christian community, we value the contribution and purpose each person brings to our school. The Bible speaks of how “there are many parts, but one body”, reminding us that every individual plays an important role in what we do. Over the past month, we have seen staff help strengthen this foundation for learning through the skills and faith they bring to work as individuals.

One recent highlight was the Year 9 camp, where students developed first aid skills and learned to support one another through both onsite and offsite activities. Our staff worked closely with students to explore topics like resilience and teamwork. A particularly powerful moment was hearing from a police officer who spoke openly about the real life challenges young people face, offering valuable advice as they navigate the world around them. This, combined with the ongoing support of teachers and parents, helps us build the safe and strong communities we want for our young people.

Another highlight was our Multicultural Day, led by the student leadership team with support from staff. This event celebrated our cultural diversity through dress, performances, activities and food. It was a clear reminder that all cultures and people are valued, both by the God we serve, and within our school community.

As we approach the end of term, we look forward to connecting with families through our Secondary Parent Teacher Interviews. I encourage you to book a time to meet with your child’s teachers and continue building strong foundations for their learning and growth.

Looking ahead to Term 4, we will continue to build on the year’s learning, especially as our Senior Students prepare for their exams. This is an exciting yet busy time, and where they will especially benefit from the support of those around them.

We hope you all have a restful and safe term break, and we look forward to working alongside you next term.
