Together we learn, together we thrive

Newsletter | Secondary Update

I’m sure many of you have heard the proverb “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

At MCC, we have the privilege each day of witnessing this in action as part of the Secondary team. Teachers, administration, wellbeing staff, teacher aides and maintenance are just some of the people committed to ensuring our students learn in a safe and supportive environment. We know that when students feel safe, they learn better. That is why our daily commitment is to do our best to make this happen.

Together, good learning lasts longer.

One example of this is our intentional focus on calm classrooms. It may sound simple, but creating calm learning environments allows all students to learn and grow. Teachers use strategies in their lessons that help students feel supported and engaged. I regularly get to see our teacher’s commitment in action, how they start a class, ask questions, and deliver assessments.

This kind of learning also builds a respect between staff and students. There is a good understanding that teachers want to teach, and students want to learn. As a Christian school, we value the words of the Bible that remind us to “be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” This is not only a powerful reminder of how to care for one another, but it also speaks to how strong communities are built, including learning communities across our college. It reflects our culture and commitment.

Thank you again for being part of this culture as parents and carers.
