Year 8 CERES Excursion
Year 8 students were able to visit the CERES Community Environment Park in Brunswick East, where they participated in various workshop activities pertaining to water cycles and solutions.
Students tested the water quality of the park’s dam and explored the many biological life forms that live there. They learnt about the urban water cycle and how water smart design can prevent the wastage of water in suburban areas.
Students participated in habitat surveys of the nearby Merri Creek ecosystem and considered what action can be taken to restore habitat health of local waterways. They also discovered various indigenous plants that can be grown to absorb water more effectively into the soil and ensure that unnecessary run off does not take place.
It was a great day of learning at our Year 8 CERES excursion.
